General Admission Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Programs

  • Applicants must not hold Thai citizenship or Thai permanent resident status and must have completed/be completing high school grade 12 or the equivalent from an International Baccalaureate (IB) Program or the educational system of a specified country. 
  • For applicants applying to programs taught in Thai, they must possess sufficient proficiency in the Thai language for academic purposes, demonstrated by standardized Thai language proficiency test scores such as CU-TFL or TU-PTFL, or other tests recognized by the University. In cases where applicants do not have standardized Thai language test scores, the Dean, with the approval of the Faculty Administrative Committee of the respective program, may consider granting admission based primarily on the applicant’s demonstrated Thai language proficiency.
  • For applicants applying to programs taught in English, they must possess sufficient proficiency in the English language for academic purposes, demonstrated by standardized English language proficiency test scores such as TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, TU-GET, CU-TEP, PTE, or UBU Test, with a level equivalent to CEFR A2 or higher. In cases where applicants do not have standardized English language test scores, the Dean, with the approval of the Faculty Administrative Committee of the respective program, may consider granting admission based on the applicant’s demonstrated English language proficiency.
    • Applicants who have graduated from a country where English is the official language or from an educational institution where English is the primary language of instruction may be exempted from submitting English proficiency test scores. Such exemption is at the discretion of the Faculty Administrative Committee of the respective program.
  • Applicants must meet other specific requirements by the respective faculties and programs and consideration of applicants’ qualifications will be under the discretion of faculties/programs.

Master's Degree Programs

  • Applicants must not hold Thai citizenship or Thai permanent resident status and must have received a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, or a graduate diploma from a higher education institution.
  • Applicants must meet other specific entry requirements as set forth by the respective faculty and program (please refer to the Graduate Program-Specific Requirements).
  • In terms of admission requirements and English language proficiency testing, applicants must meet the criteria as set forth by the respective faculty and program as specified in Article 4) of UBU’s Announcement concerning English Proficiency Standards for Graduate Students, 2020.
Additional English language proficiency Requirement for Engineering Programs:
Applicants must meet the English proficiency test requirements as listed here. Those who do not yet have a valid English test score/certificate may still apply and choose one of the following options:
  • Complete the English Preparation for Graduate Studies course; or
  • Submit an approved English proficiency test score within the first semester of the academic year.

Doctoral Degree Programs

  • Applicants must not hold Thai citizenship or Thai permanent resident status and must have received a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, a master’s degree or its equivalent, or an advanced graduate diploma from a higher education institution or other qualifications specified by UBU announcement.
  • Applicants must meet other specific entry requirements as set forth by the respective faculty and program.
  • In terms of admission requirements and English language proficiency testing, applicants must receive a certificate of completion from a standard English language proficiency test as per graduate program standards or those of the Commission on Higher Education. This certificate must have been issued within the last 2 years from the date of the announcement of results from Ubon Ratchathani University or language testing institutes until the date of student registration by using one of the following criteria:

Official English proficiency test scores arevalid only if taken within two (2) years prior to the application deadline.

Applicants  who do not meet the prescribed minimum scores may still apply and choose one of the following options:

  • Complete the English Preparation for Graduate Studies course; or
  • Submit an approved English proficiency test score within the first semester of the academic year.
Applicants who do not yet have a standardized English proficiency test certificate may apply; however, the certificate must be submitted no later than the date of new UBU student registration.
Final Decision:
The assessment of applicant qualifications will be at the discretion of the respective faculty or program, and all decisions are final.
